What is DAXXIFY?
Designed and approved by the FDA to target moderate and deep frown lines located between the eyebrows, DAXXIFY is a neurotoxin or muscle relaxing injectable treatment that can smooth unwanted active wrinkles for a younger appearance. DAXXIFY is the first relaxer which features a peptide-based formula and no human or animal byproducts. Using the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A, which relaxes facial muscles, DAXXIFY can revitalize a patient’s appearance for a more youthful look. This FDA-approved injectable is an exciting alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic that can provide effective and longer-lasting results.
At Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Yarinsky, understands the needs and goals of patients who seek injectable treatments like DAXXIFY. As the only ExpertInjector™ located in the Albany and Capital District regions, Dr. Yarinsky is experienced and qualified to safely administer facial fillers and muscle relaxers for optimal results.
What Can I Expect in the DAXXIFY Treatment?
To prepare for DAXXIFY injections, patients may receive pre-treatment instructions, such as avoiding topical steroids and blood thinners to minimize bruising. If needed or desired, a numbing gel may be applied to the area being treated to minimize any discomfort. For those patients who request it, our team also provides painless injections with the help of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help you relax. Injections between your eyebrows and elsewhere on your face where needed are administered in our office by Dr. Yarinsky using a fine needle. Treatments take only a few minutes. You may feel a quick pinching sensation during the injection process.
How Long Does DAXXIFY Last?
Results from DAXXIFY may appear as soon as the day after injection, but they typically develop within a few days. While most injectable muscle relaxers such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® last three to four months, DAXXIFY has been shown to last an average of six months. This means patients usually only have to receive repeat treatments about twice a year to maintain their youthful results.
How Much Does DAXXIFY Cost?
The cost of DAXXIFY can vary for a variety of reasons. Contributing factors may include the geographic location of the medical practice, and the amount of DAXXIFY needed to provide you with the result that you desire based on the severity of your active wrinkle lines. DAXXIFY usually costs more than BOTOX® Cosmetic due to the increased longevity, but with fewer treatments needed to maintain results, the two neuromodulators tend to have a similar cost over time.
