How to Fix a Broken Nose
Your nose is one of the most commonly injured areas of your face, often caused by sports or a fall. This can be an alarming feature to break due to its effect on breathing and the prominent role it plays in one’s facial appearance. If you experience trauma to the face and notice your nose looks crooked or bruising develops underneath your eyes, you may have suffered from a nasal fracture. Depending on the location and extent of the damage, you may need surgery to repair the fracture and restore the natural shape of your nose.
If you sustain a sudden blow or injury to your nose and notice you have severe bleeding, bones forced to one side, or trouble breathing, it is vital that you seek prompt medical attention. In cases where the bones or cartilage have been moved out of place, your doctor may be able to manually realign your nose using a splint and surgical tools. If your septum has been damaged or your break is too advanced for a manual realignment, or you have an old fracture which has healed crooked, a board-certified plastic surgeon may need to evaluate your nose to determine the best treatment.
At Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, Dr. Steven Yarinsky has helped many patients improve cosmetic and functional concerns with their nasal shape through rhinoplasty. He can help you determine if a deviated septum or other nasal injury may be affecting your ability to breathe normally. In addition, a crooked or misshapen nose can be addressed during a custom rhinoplasty, helping you achieve a more symmetrical and proportionate nasal appearance.
Whether you recently broke your nose or have been living with damage caused several years ago, Dr. Yarinsky can evaluate your nose and tailor surgery to correct your unique concerns. If you would like to learn more about how rhinoplasty can address nasal damage, please contact our office today to schedule a consultation.
