About Saratoga Springs

This resort city of 27,000 is located only 35 miles north of Albany, New York State’s Capital. It is located within a four-hour drive of Boston and three hours from New York City and Montreal. Perhaps best known for the thoroughbreds that race at the Saratoga Race Track each July and August, Saratoga Springs is also a center of culture, the arts, and education. The city is a winner of The Great American Main Street Award and The American Heritage Great American Place award.

The Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and hosts a jazz festival and many popular performing artists each summer. The National Museum of Dance and the National Museum of Horse Racing are also located in the city.

The city’s sparkling mineral waters and elegant Victorian setting have attracted visitors for centuries. Boasting outstanding restaurants and specialty shops, this is one of only a few small cities in America that is growing at its center, attracting new major retail stores and living environments. Its historic homes and public buildings reflect local pride in Saratoga’s architecture and rich heritage. The city is home to Skidmore College and its Tang Gallery which hosts fantastic public art shows and cultural events.

Saratoga Springs and its environs offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sports including ice hockey, swimming, tennis, golf, skiing, boating and fishing. The more popular spectator sports include summertime thoroughbred racing and polo, and year round harness racing at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway which also hosts New York State’s first Racino.
