Moms are used to making sacrifices, but how they look does not have to be one of them. Although having a child can be one of life’s greatest gifts, pregnancy and child-rearing can cause a number of physical changes in your body and face that can be difficult to reverse without our help. Mommy Makeover done by Dr. Steven Yarinsky is a customized procedure designed to address a number of aesthetic issues to help you to look and feel your best.
Wonderful from start to finish. So much time was spent with me on the consultation alone that I knew immediately after I would be choosing this office for my mommy makeover. The nurses were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The proof is in the results. I feel and look incredible. Dr Yarinsky is the way to go!

What Is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is designed to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy figure as well as rejuvenate your face for a well-rested, energetic, and youthful look. By combining a number of our popular medical spa, plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures into a single treatment plan, Dr. Yarinsky can help you renew your appearance and enhance your self-esteem. If your breasts have taken on a saggy appearance, they can be lifted and breast skin can be tightened. If your breasts have lost volume, they can be enlarged with implants. Your abdominal muscles and skin can be tightened for a flatter appearance. Excess fat virtually anywhere on your body can be removed using liposuction or non-surgical treatments like truSculpt® iD. Signs of age and exhaustion in your face can be reduced using non-surgical injectable and med spa treatments or cosmetic surgery. Please contact Dr. Yarinsky for more information, or to schedule a Mommy Makeover consultation.
My experience at Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery was nothing short of excellent. Prior to my operation here, I had never had plastic surgery. The staff were extremely informative and courteous, making my stay easy and comfortable. Everyone maintained a professional attitude while keeping a relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend Dr. Steven Yarinsky and his exceptional staff to anyone seeking plastic surgery!
What Are My Mommy Makeover Options?
Each Mommy Makeover is customized to specifically address your own anatomy, your personal needs and goals. Dr. Yarinsky will develop a treatment plan for you at your initial consultation. Some Mommy Makeover options include:
Breast Lift
Pregnancy and breastfeeding often produce excess skin and result in loss of breast volume, causing a droopy or saggy appearance. A breast lift removes the excess and tightens the remaining skin, lifting your breasts to a higher, “perkier” position. This procedure can also be performed with breast augmentation to restore lost volume, providing a more youthful breast appearance.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation restores lost breast volume that often occurs after weight loss, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Saline or silicone implants, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, can help you add more volume, improve the contour to your breasts, and improve symmetry if your breasts are not the same size. Some women choose to simply restore their breasts to their original size and shape while others choose to increase the size of their breasts to create a more balanced, proportionate figure. We now most often use the latest Sientra® “Gummy Bear” implants which have the best warranty in the business! For those women who don’t want silicone gel, we provide Ideal® saline implants.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Your abdomen is usually the area of your body that shows the greatest changes after pregnancy. After months of being stretched and pulled, your abdominal muscles can become loose or torn, and excess skin can accumulate in your waistline which may be impossible to correct with diet and exercise. A tummy tuck tightens and repairs your abdominal muscles, removes loose or excess skin, and tightens the remaining skin to give you a flatter, more toned-looking tummy and a narrower waistline.
Liposuction
During pregnancy, you can accumulate fat in many areas of your body, face and neckline. After childbirth, even with a nutritious diet and regular exercise, this stubborn fat can persist. Liposuction is a versatile procedure that can be used to target excess fat at nearly any area of your body and face for a more contoured, youthful appearance. Common areas for liposuction include your abdomen, flanks, lower back, thighs, buttocks, knees, ankles, upper arms, neck, jawline and beneath your chin.
Labiaplasty & Vaginal Rejuvenation
Childbirth may cause the tissues of the labia to change in size or appearance. Labiaplasty can rejuvenate the genital area to improve physical comfort with sports and also improve the fit of bathing suits and tight pants. This procedure can also improve comfort during sexual intercourse for women who have experienced looseness and other changes after childbirth. ThermiVa® is a non-invasive, non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation that can tighten loose labial skin, improve vaginal tone and laxity, and increase vaginal lubrication. These conditions commonly develop after childbirth, with aging and in women who are placed on antiestrogen medication as part of treatment for breast cancer.
Injectable Fillers & Other Treatments for Facial Rejuvenation
Sleepless nights and busy days caring for your children can have a profound effect on your facial features, making you appear older than you really are. Cosmetic injectables like BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers can rejuvenate your face by reducing wrinkles and fine lines, adding volume to your lips and cheeks, and give you a more youthful, refreshed look. There are also many medispa and skin care treatments and facial cosmetic surgery options that can help rejuvenate your appearance.
What Is the Recovery After a Mommy Makeover?
Recovery after your Mommy Makeover depends upon the procedures performed. Patients who have surgical procedures should plan on recovery times of at least one to two weeks before driving, and up to three to six weeks before returning to work depending upon the physical requirements of your job. You should avoid tub bathing, swimming and hot tub use—submerging the treated areas in water —for six to eight weeks. Swelling and bruising typically lasting three to six weeks is normally seen after cosmetic surgical procedures. Pain and discomfort are relieved with medication. Less invasive options such as skin care treatments and injectable facial rejuvenation typically have short periods of downtime. Dr. Yarinsky will discuss all of your options with you during your initial consultation and will determine which Mommy Makeover components will help you to reach your goals. See “Other Mommy Makeover Frequently Asked Questions” for more information about your recovery.
How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost?
Since each Mommy Makeover is customized to achieve a woman’s personal goals, no two procedures are the same. As a result, a Mommy Makeover has a wide range of costs. After a thorough discussion of your area of concern at your consultation and your custom-tailored treatment plan is designed, Dr. Yarinsky will provide you with a detailed written estimate of the cost of your Mommy Makeover. Variables that can influence the cost of the treatment plan include which individual procedures are combined, the overall complexity of the procedure(s), operating room facility fees, and anesthesiologist fees. Your procedure is most often done right at our own accredited office surgery center which may provide you with savings over the hospital setting. The experience, training and expertise of your plastic surgeon also influences the cost of your Mommy Makeover. For your safety and the best possible result, it is always better to have your procedure done by an expert than to choose your plastic surgeon based upon price alone. New and less experienced plastic surgeons may charge less to grow their practices but may not provide comparable results. Many of our patients choose to take advantage of our plastic surgery financing options, which can provide low monthly payment plans with little to no interest.
Will My Mommy Makeover Scars Be Visible?
If you choose cosmetic surgery options, the location of the incisions used for your Mommy Makeover will vary depending upon what areas are treated. Dr. Yarinsky uses the latest techniques and technology to minimize the appearance of any post-operative scarring. For example, the incision for a tummy tuck is usually made well below your waistline to be more easily covered with underwear or a bikini bottom. Breast surgery scars can be hidden around the circumference of the areolae or along the natural creases beneath your breasts. In cases when breast surgery requires an incision that extends from the areola to the lower pole of the breast, a bra or bikini top can easily cover any scarring. Our office also provides you with specialized scar treatment using BioCorneum®. Dr. Yarinsky will give you a detailed description and show you photos of other patients so you can know what to expect in regard to scarring at your initial consultation.
Additional Mommy Makeover Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Ideal Time for a Mommy Makeover?
Some women choose to have their Mommy Makeover within the first year of having their child, while others may wait several years or after they complete their childbearing years. Though the timeline for having a Mommy Makeover differs for each individual, Dr. Yarinsky advises patients to wait at least six months after childbirth for cosmetic surgery to allow time for their body to recover. In addition, if you plan to lose weight after pregnancy, you may wish to wait until you reach your long-term stable weight before having your Mommy Makeover. Having your cosmetic surgery upon reaching your weight goal will most often achieve the best possible and a longer-lasting result.
Will Insurance Cover My Mommy Makeover?
Most insurance providers do not offer coverage for Mommy Makeover surgery since it is typically considered a cosmetic procedure. In some cases, patients may have a component of their surgery, such as an umbilical hernia repair, covered if it can be proven necessary for medical reasons.
When Will I Be Able to Drive After My Mommy Makeover?
Most women feel comfortable enough to return to driving after the first week of their breast enlargement or two weeks after their tummy tuck. You may want to have someone accompany you when first returning to driving, in case you do not feel your best. How soon you return to driving will ultimately depend upon your strength and mobility, but keep in mind you will need to wait until you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication before operating a vehicle again.
How Long Do Swelling & Scars Last After Mommy Makeover Surgery?
Swelling and red raised scars are a normal part of the healing process from a Mommy Makeover. Swelling can last for weeks and red scars typically fade over the course of a year. Patients typically reach 90% of their long-term result by six weeks. As a result, it is important to remember your results may continue to take shape over the first few months after your procedure.
How Soon Can I Exercise After My Mommy Makeover?
Moving around after surgery is important to help facilitate healing, but you should be careful not to overexert yourself too soon. Pay attention to how your body feels. If a particular exercise or motion is painful, this is a sign you may not be ready yet. Patients often feel comfortable with mild exercise the first week after surgery, such as walking. Dr. Yarinsky recommends reserving stationary biking and more vigorous exercise for two or more weeks after surgery, but this will depend upon the type of procedures done with your Mommy Makeover. In most cases, patients can resume more strenuous activities and rigorous exercise four to six weeks after breast enhancement and six to eight weeks after a tummy tuck.
When Can I Have Sex After Mommy Makeover Surgery?
Most patients are able to resume sexual intimacy with their partners about four to six weeks after their tummy tuck. However, this ultimately depends upon when you feel comfortable to do so without experiencing pain. If labiaplasty is part of your Mommy Makeover, it may take closer to eight to ten weeks before you can resume sexual relations.
